The Dakota Zoo in Bismarck, North Dakota, is one of my favorite places to visit. Early one fall morning I went alone to the zoo with my camera. It was quiet and calm and I captured many pictures of the birds while sitting beside the pond on a little bridge. Male birds usually get all of the attention because of their beautiful plumage, but I fell in love with the females and the way their more muted colors echoed the reflections of fall.
