Sandhill Cranes perform a beautiful dance when mating. What drew me to do this painting was the dominant positioning of one crane over another. I adjusted the original reference photograph to exaggerate the domination even further, and completely changed the background. I intentionally used a limited palette and simple background to keep the focus on the birds.
