This painting was made for the owner of Evolve Salon and Spa in Bismarck, North Dakota to celebrate their opening in 2016. The owner loves owls, so I chose a Northern Saw-Whet Owl for the subject. The background is composed from several photos I took of Dames Rocket growing on my property. Although Dames Rocket is considered a noxious weed, I think it is beautiful, and when it blooms in late spring it is one of my favorite times of the year. This painting is what brought me back from an almost 10 year long sabbatical and was my first acrylic painting.
